Our Vineyard
Summer in the Vineyard
We are experiencing a bountiful year in the vineyard. Warm and mostly dry weeks in early June brought us a very healthy bloom and abundant clusters on the vines. The resulting grapes are all already pea sized or larger and clusters are closing rapidly. Our vineyard team has already finished shoot positioning and thinning and is currently doing shoot topping. Only 12-14 leaves are needed per shoot to properly ripen two clusters of grapes. In topping, we trim overlapping shoots that shade the fruit zone. Once topping is completed, we will selectively pull leaves around the fruit clusters on the East Side to allow the rising sun to dry overnight dews and open up the canopy for better air flow and spray penetration. We hope that you will take a stroll through the vineyard on your next visit to see for yourself!
